Chatty Sparkly Success

We recount two chatty sparkly success stories and explain how they have worked.

Learn how Chatty running can work for you and how long it will take to see an improvement in your running.

Becoming a Chatty runner has so may benefits. It is fun to do, doesn’t leave you tired and it really will make you a faster runner. We have seen the results countless times.

Two newcomers to Anne’s beginners Chatty Sparkly track sessions loved Chatty running so much that they tried it out at parkrun a few days later. They couldn’t believe how much quicker their times were, one runner knocked a whole three minutes off her PB and enjoyed parkrun for the first time ever.

How did this happen? In previous parkruns they had run quickly until they got too out of breath, they felt tired and their legs were heavy. Then they would walk until they felt recovered enough to set off quickly again. They completed the whole parkrun in this stop-start way. By slowing their pace down and running Chatty, they were able to keep running for longer. If they did stop and walk up the hills, that walk break was short. Slowing down enabled them to run at a more consistent pace and because they stopped to walk less, they completed the 5k in a faster time.

What could be better than a parkrun PB and having the energy to enjoy the rest of your Saturday? All thanks to Chatty running.

Slowing the pace down in training helped another of Anne’s Chatty Sparkly group improve her fitness.  Slowing down her training to run at a comfortable Chatty pace meant she had the energy to run for longer. She gradually increased the distance she was able to run for and after several weeks, she noticed that ‘her times were coming down’. She was running the same distance at Chatty pace in a quicker time. Her Chatty pace had got faster! She could hardly believe it. She was faster and fitter than before without the effort of any ‘hard work’ training.

These success stories show perfectly that, it’s not how fast you run but how much you do that makes you a better runner. Give it a try. Slow down your pace, run a little further and within six weeks you too could be a Chatty Sparkly Success story.
