You might be thinking “But surely, if I can talk when I run then I’m not working hard enough”.

It’s what we are conditioned to believe, isn’t it? We are told that in order to achieve our fitness goals we have to suffer and push our bodies to the limit. We wear the after-effects like a badge of honour thinking that aching legs and tiredness mean that yesterday’s training must be working.
The good news is – you don’t need to go there. If you want to increase your running fitness all you have to do is a little bit more than you have done before. And we mean a little bit!
Just five more minutes running each week, at chatty pace, will do the trick. Amazing really! Just build up the amount of chatty running you do and let your body do the rest.
